Caring for Vintage

Your vintage pieces were cared for and preserved by one or several previous owners. Do your part by keeping the tradition and insuring that you too will also be able to pass on your best-loved pieces.

  1. Never put vintage clothing in the washing machine. Dry-cleaning and hand washing are preferred methods of cleaning. Cotton, linen, wool mixed with nylon and/or acrylic may be hand washed. Hand wash with lukewarm water and mild detergent, then lay flat on a towel rack to dry. Do not squeeze or wring fabrics. Rayon, taffeta, silk, pure wool, and acetate are best dry-cleaned.
  2. To avoid having to wash a piece regularly, hang it after each wear in a cool, dry room. Putting a bowl of white vinegar underneath the hanging garment may help absorb odors.
  3. Minor stains (i.e. white stains from deodorant) may be removed by dabbing the effected area with a bit of lemon juice or white vinegar.
  4. Do not hang white or light-colored pieces in direct sunlight, or they will yellow over time. To reverse yellowing, you make soak garments in a basin of cool water with three tablespoons of white vinegar. Never expose your clothing to bleach.
  5. Steam garments as an alternative to pressing them, if possible. If you do not own a steamer, you may hang your clothing in a steamy washroom for a few minutes.

  Sizing & Measurement

Our vintage pieces date from the 1930’s to the ‘90’s. Because of varying trends in sizing over the past seven decades, each item may fit differently. To avoid purchasing a garment that does not fit you, we recommend following these instructions for self-measurement.

Note: Use a dressmaker’s tape measure and allow breathing room when taking all measurements.

  1. Measure around fullest part of your bust, while wearing a bra.
  2. Measure your waist at its smallest point.
  3. Measure your hips at their fullest point, an average of 7”-9” below your waistline.
  4. Standing tall with shoulder pulled back, measure from shoulder to shoulder across back of neck.
  5. Measure arm length from round top of shoulder to wrist.
  6. Measure your inseam from your pelvic joint to your ankle.
  7. Measure full body length from nape of neck to the point where your heel touches the floor.

    After taking your measurements, compare them to those of the garment you are interested in purchasing. Each piece of clothing is measured flat on the floor. To better understand how a piece might fit you, we recommend measuring a piece of your own clothing in this way, and comparing those measurements in addition to your body measurements.

    Please pay attention to the measurements for each garment, as we do not give refunds for items that do not fit.

Excellent: Like new, no notable flaws

Good: May have a very minor flaw or a bit of wear

Remember when buying vintage that small signs of wear are inevitable, particularly in those pieces that date before the 1960’s. We do not carry any items with major flaws. By “minor flaw” we mean a loose thread or a missing sequin, small stains. When we decide to sell something even with flaws we mention them under the condition. We only do that in rare cases when the garment is unique.


Domestic Shipping

We ship within the USA via USPS Priority Mail and Express Mail. All orders include delivery confirmation. Priority Mail has a 2-4 day delivery time, and is generally very fast. We recommend signature confirmation for all orders shipped to commercial addresses. Please contact us to request this, and this case we will adjust your invoice to reflect the upgraded shipping rate. Express mail is typically overnight if the package is received before noon eastern time. We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages or packages delayed by the postal service.

All orders are processed Monday through Friday, except federal holidays. All orders purchased before noon eastern time will leave the same day. All orders that come in after noon will be shipped the next business day.

We offer 2 shipping options:

Priority mail – takes 7 to 10 business days, but can be faster depending on your location.

Express mail – takes 3 to 5 business days depends on how long customs hold the package in your country. Both options have tracking.

While we take steps to minimize or eliminate the cost of importing for our customers, we cannot provide inaccurate information to customs officials. If your order has been returned to us because of non-payment of above said fees it is your responsibility to pay for the additional shipping charges to ship the item back to you.


Once your order has been processed and shipped, an email containing the customs label number will be sent to your registered email. Unfortunately this does not allow you to fully track your order. It will show you when it has left the United States and you can give the number to your local post office to see if it has arrived at your country of destination.

1. If I am unhappy with my purchase for any reason, may I return it to Saraz Closet?

All sales are final. We are as thorough as possible regarding size and descriptions of items presented, as well as quality and condition. However, if your purchase arrives in a condition significantly different from the way it was described, and you contact us with proof, the item in question may be returned. You must email us within 24 hours of receiving your items. A returned garment must be unworn. Shipping is non-refundable.

2. Are Saraz products manufactured in the United States?

All alterations are done in the New York City, but since the items are vintage they come from a variety of places.

3. Do I get free shipping over $150 for an international order?

We do not offer free international shipping

4. How quickly do you ship?

All orders are processed Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. All orders ship within 24 hours of purchase if you order comes in before noon eastern time it will leave the same day.

What is your Security Policy?

We have reasonable and appropriate security measures in place to attempt to protect against the loss, misuses, and alteration of your personally identifiable information under our control. We have taken reasonable steps to confirm the information is retained in secured facilities and that reasonable measures have been implemented for protection from unauthorized access.

Saraz Closet uses secure processing called SSL Encryption Technology, which is the industry standard. SSL is a protocol developed for the transmission of private information over the internet.   Rental Dresses

Rental Fee: 50 dollars a day minimum two days rental

Late Fee: 50 dollars each additional day

Cancellation charges: up to 50% of rental fee 72 hour notice is required for cancellations.

Damaged Items: If the garment is damaged and or stained beyond repair, customer will be charged the full price for replacement plus a percentage of the security which will be determined by the damages and the garment itself). Once we examine the dress we will contact the customer within 24 hours.

Before any dress is shipped to a customer there will be photographs showing its condition before it leaves the studio while noting any in-house stains or slight damages. Customers will also receive a document accompanied with the dress describing the stain or damage.

Items not returned: Customer will be charged the full replacement value plus security deposit. If the item is returned after the due date we will refund the late fees.

These hand selected, show-stopping dresses are there just when you need them, and gone before they can overstay their welcome. Save money, save closet space, and help save our planet.


These are one of a kind special dress that has a lot of history and nostalgic value behind it. Therefore it is every customer’s responsibility that these dresses are returned in the time frame allowed in the terms. Please allow every woman the opportunity to share this experience. Think of it like a family heirlooms or keepsake.


Dresses will be shipped UPS 2nd day Air. For weekday rentals customers are allowed up to two business days. Weekend rentals are up to three days. For customers needing a dress for Monday or Tuesday there will be an extra weekend shipping fee. A UPS scheduled pick up will be provided for customers to return the dress. Customers pay half of shipping fee. For New York city we work with messenger service, and we offer next day delivery for the rental dresses.

Customers 18 and under need to have guardian for credit card authorization.
